An asphalt concrete pavement (ACP) overlay over a rigid pavement represents a211u001eviable rehabilitation strategy. It can provide good serviceability at an initial 211u001econstruction cost that is substantially less than that of a rigid overlay 211u001erehabilitation. In addition, ACP overlays require less construction time, which 211u001ecan reduce user costs during construction. However, it may not be the most 211u001eeconomical solution for long-term rehabilitation. Because of their relatively 211u001eshort service life, ACP overlays may require maintenance sooer than rigid 211u001eoverlays. And one of the more critical distresses that effectively determine the 211u001elife span of the structure is reflection cracking. this report investigates 211u001ealternative strategies that seek to prevent reflection cracking on ACP overlays.
