摘要

The Monoclonal Antibody CMV Retinitis Trial (MACRT) was a multicenter, phase 2/3, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial conducted by the Studies of the Ocular Complications of AID (SOCA) in collaboration with the ACTG-294. The study was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of an intravenous human nonoclonal antibody to cytomegalovirus (CMV), MSL-109, as adjuvant treatment for CMV retinitis. Two hundred nine patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and active CMV retinitis were enrolled in the clinical trial. Patients received adjuvant treatment with MSL-109, 60 mg intravenously every 2 weeks, or placebo. Randomization was stratified on the basis of whether patients had untreated or relapsed retinitis. Primary drug therapy for CMV retinitis was determined by the treating physician. This report documents the datasets used to complete the analyses for the mortality paper (Arch Ophthalmol 115(12): 1528-1536, 1997). A data dictionary, sample data listings, and relevant data collection forms are included in this document. Our variable naming conventions are also described. This document is intended to provide researchers with necessary information to conduct additional analyses of the MACRT data, given the appropriate data sets (available upon request from the SOCA Coordinating Center).
