Rocky Barrens Conservation Area (C.A.), Greene County, Missouri was purchased bythe Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) in 1988 to protect a large population of the federally-endangered Missouri bladderpod (Lesquerella filiformis Rollins). The purpose of this study was to initiate experimental management techniques on the tract and to monitor the effects of management with a series of permanent plots. Specific objectives were: To establish permanent sampling plots at Rocky Barrens C.A. for long-term population monitoring; To study the effects of various experimental management prescriptions on L. filiformis. These include prescribed fire, removal of woody vegetation, removal of exotic species, and soil disturbance.
