摘要

The paper outlines the political history, the contemporary political situation,and the future political perspective of the Russian Far East (RFE). In light of the dissolution of the USSR and the Demise of the Communist system, the paper examines the questions of granting the RFE some form of autonomy. It concludes that the achievement of true self rule in the RFE would benefit not only its own people, but all groups in Russia.
