摘要

The paper is intended to provide a brief account of technology available forimproving the productivity on farms producing cotton, coffee and tea. This is combined with analysis of the constraints that have limited farmer uptake of some of the available innovations. It is hoped that what is a synthesis of predominantly anglophone African experience will provide a useful guide to those who have to make decisions relating to the development of these crops but who do not have the benefit of field experience with their production by smallholders in Africa.
