Australian economic growth and the welfare of Australians are very much related to housing sector. Recently housing affordability has emerged as a widely discussed issue among the politicians, academics and policy makers. This paper therefore analyses current housing market conditions in Australia. Specifically the paper examines the factors that have caused increased housing prices over recent years. Various effects of this housing price hike on the Australian economy are also evaluated.
