A system for managing control of connected devices includes event sensors 1, condition sensors 7, actuators 5 and a control policy decision point 2 as shown in figure 1. The policy decision point collects sensor data and chooses a control policy to use from policy stores 3 and 8. After a policy is chosen, it is executed by the policy execution point 4. Each policy relates to parameters for controlling the operation of equipment. Figure 3 shows the system receives an input 30 which could be referred to as a trigger event and chooses an appropriate control policy in steps 31, 37, 38 and 39.
