The invention relates to a method for connecting a rod-shaped metal component (1) to at least one further component (2). According to the invention, an end region (5) of the rod-shaped metal component (1) which has a smaller diameter than an adjacent region (6) of the rod-shaped Metal component (1), through a feed-through opening (7) of the further component (2), the diameter of which is larger than the end region (5) of the rod-shaped metal component (1) and smaller than the adjacent region (6) of the rod-shaped metal component (1) , passed through and a diameter of the end region (5) of the rod-shaped metal component (1), starting from a front end of the end region (5), is enlarged at least in sections by friction forming by means of a rotating shaft tool pressed against the front end.
