The invention relates to a powder mixture for producing an electrical contact material. The powder mixture is equipped with elemental metal powder particles with an elemental metal of at least one metal and with metal compound powder particles with at least one inorganic metal compound with at least one other metal. The elementary metal powder particles have a medium metal powder particle size and the metal compound powder particles have a medium metal compound powder particle size. A ratio of the average metal powder particle size to the average metal compound powder particle size is selected from the range of 5 to 50. In addition, a method for producing an electrical contact material using the powder mixture and the resulting contact material are specified. In particular, a copper-chrome contact material is accessible, which is used for at least one electrical contact of a medium-voltage vacuum interrupter.
