The present invention relates to a novel use of naphthoquinone derivative compounds having an ability to induce apoptosis in brain tumor stem cells. More specifically, the present invention relates to: a pharmaceutical composition for the apoptosis of brain tumor stem cells, comprising 2-(4-biphenylyl)-3-hydroxynaphthoquinone, 2-methoxy-3-phenylnaphthoquinone, and 2-hydroxy-3-(4-nitrophenyl)naphthoquinone derivative compounds as effective components; a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating brain tumors; and a method of inducing apoptosis of brain tumor stem cells. In particular, according to the present invention, the naphthoquinone derivative compounds can suppress lipid metabolism in brain tumor stem cells, and exhibit the desirable effect of promoting apoptosis in brain tumor stem cells, and thus may be used as a novel therapeutic agent for brain tumors targeting the brain tumor stem cells, and at the same time, may be used as anticancer adjuvant drugs for increasing the anticancer efficacy of brain tumor treatment.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2020
