The present invention relates to a biomarker composition for diagnosing radiation exposure comprising VTA1, and a diagnostic method using the same. In the present invention, it has been confirmed that the expression level of VTA1, which has high sensitivity to radiation, is significantly decreased depending on the radiation dose and exposure time, thus the VTA1 can be used to quickly and accurately diagnose radiation exposure by measuring the expression level from a sample such as blood, and can be used to predict the radiation exposure dose of a body. In addition, it is possible to improve a radiation treatment effect by developing a drug that increases the radiation sensitivity by targeting the VTA1, and the present invention can be useful for predicting or diagnosing the radiation exposure level in radiation workers and from natural background radiation.
