PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a catalyst system for producing 1,2-dichloroethane which maintains the pressure loss at a low level when producing 1,2-dichloroethane, has a good heat removing effect and high durability and is capable of stably producing 1,2-dichloroethane for a long period of time; and a method for producing 1,2-dichloroethane using the same.SOLUTION: There is provided a catalyst system for producing 1,2-dichloroethane which includes an oxychlorination catalyst and a diluent, where the oxychlorination catalyst is a carrier-supported oxychlorination catalyst having a hollow cylindrical shape and the diluent is a graphite diluent having a hollow cylindrical shape having a specific surface area of 0.01 to 10 m/g, an outside diameter (Ded) of 4 to 8 mm, an inner diameter (Did) of 1.5 to 3.5 mm, and a length (Ld) of 3 to 7 mm in which the adhesion rate of the diluents is mutually less than 5%.SELECTED DRAWING: None
