High-purity eicosapentaenoic acid as a free fatty acid reduces stool calprotectin levels in patients with ulcerative colitis and prevents clinical recurrence
A method for reducing fecal calprotectin levels in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) and preventing clinical recurrence. The present invention provides eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA-FFA) as a high-purity free fatty acid for reducing fecal calprotectin levels and reducing the risk of clinical relapse in UC patients. A method of administering an effective amount of Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA-FFA) in free fatty acid form has a purity of at least 95%, more preferably at least 99%. [Selection diagram] Fig. 1
