To provide a thrust generation device capable of further efficiently obtaining torque by Magnus power generated on cylindrical blades.SOLUTION: A thrust generation device 1 includes: a supporting portion rotatable about a first rotation axis O1 to a supporting housing; a plurality of cylindrical blades 2 respectively journaled about a second rotation axis O2 on a circumference to the supporting portion, revolvable about the first rotation axis O1, and rotatable about the second rotation axis O2; and a straightening plate 5 supported by the supporting portion and disposed at a back face side in a traveling direction to the cylindrical blades 2. A rear end edge 5a of the straightening plate 5 exists in a region satisfying following conditions (1) and (2). (1) 0.45D≤L≤0.65D, (2) 20°≤θ≤60°, in which D is a diameter of an outer end circle 21 of revolution locus of the cylindrical blade 2, L is a distance from the first rotation axis O1 to the rear end edge 5a, and θ is an angle between a line connecting the first rotation axis O1 and the second rotation axis O2, and a line connecting the first rotation axis O1 and the rear end edge 5a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
