The present invention relates to a food composition for preventing or alleviating diabetes comprising a soup (decocting root of Rehmanneh glutinosa Libosch. var. purpurea Mak., Chinese matrimony vine, corni, alisma, root skin of Paeonia suffuruticosa Andr., and Poria cocas Wolf.) extract as an active ingredient and, more specifically, to food composition for preventing or alleviating diabetes comprising the soup subcritical extract as an active ingredient. The soup subcritical extract which is the active ingredient of the food composition for preventing or alleviating diabetes significantly increases glucose uptake ability in muscle cells, has no toxicity through experimental results. The functional food composition for preventing or alleviating diabetes can be widely used in various applications for treating, preventing or alleviating diabetes or diabetic complications.
