Disclosed are an assistance robot without a fixed seat, an assistance robot and a control method therefor, relating to the technical field of medical instruments, and solving the technical problem that existing assistance robots are heavy in terms of overall weight, complex in terms of structure and poor in terms of flexibility, due to being provided with automatic seats. The assistance robot comprises: a buttock support strap, a waist support strap and a machine body provided with mecanum wheels, the machine body being provided with a foot sole support plate and a lifting support mechanism, the lifting support mechanism comprising a top chest plate, a lower end surface of the top chest plate being provided with first connecting pieces, side walls being provided with second connecting pieces, the buttock support strap being provided with third connecting pieces matched with the first connecting pieces, the waist support strap being provided with fourth connecting pieces matched with the second connecting pieces. The assistance robot ensures that a user has a standing posture and a sitting posture, and also effectively lightens the overall weight and simplifies the structure of the assistance robot, so as to effectively increase flexibility.
