Method and system for the productive construction of a diaphragm wall without earth excavation, during which a continuous watertight and/or water-transmitting layer is inserted preferably in flood prevention embankment dams, wherein a narrow, substantially vertical trench up to 10 to 15 cm in width is cleaved continuously into embankment dams from their surface towards their inside at least to a depth of 2 to 6 metres, and wherein simultaneously with the cleaving process the continuous watertight and/or water-transmitting layer is inserted into the trench up to its full depth, while the earth pressure of the trench cleaved in the embankment dams is equalised.
