An infant backpack comprising at least one pair of shoulder straps (2, 3) and a load support (4) designed to be attached to the shoulder straps and adapted to support the body of an infant starting from month age. The load supporting body has a bag shape and comprises a lower part (5), an upper part (6) and a middle part (7). A sheet element (8), which is designed to form an outer-facing surface of the load bearing body (4), has a fold (11), which extends longitudinally in the vertical direction between the lower part (5) and the upper part (6) at a length (L) in the central region of the intermediate part (7) of the load bearing body (4). The utility model also relates to a method for producing said load bearing body (4). The fold (11) can be opened, thereby increasing the length of the sheet element (8), thereby increasing the length of the intermediate portion (7) of the load support of the baby carrier, which length is adapted to conform to the body size of the baby and allow proper positioning of the C-curve of the back.
