The subject disclosed herein includes a camera system for aerial photography applications that can be mounted on an aircraft and operated to obtain images of an observed area. The proposed camera system comprises a camera control unit operably connected to a camera supported by an articulated support device such as a cardan assembly. The camera continuously moves along a non-stop scan line and is operated to capture images in a given frame rate.
