The present invention relates to a method for preparing an apricot extract, an apricot extract prepared thereby, and a functional skin-care or cosmetic composition comprising the same as an effective component. More specifically, the method comprises the steps of: 1) separating an apricot into the skin, the flesh, and the pit to prepare an apricot sample for each part; 2) pulverizing the apricot sample for each part obtained in the step 1) to prepare apricot powder for each part; 3) adding the apricot powder prepared in the step 2) to an extraction solvent and stirring the same to prepare an apricot extract for each part; 4) filtering or centrifuging the apricot extract prepared in the step 3) to prepare an apricot extract for each part from which impurities are removed; and 5) concentrating the apricot extract for each part prepared in the step 4). According to the present invention, by separately extracting each part of an apricot, including the skin, the flesh, and the pit, extraction conditions are optimized to enhance effects such as antioxidant activity, and further, the total phenol content can be enhanced through a fermentation process, and various bioactive components in the form that is difficult to be absorbed by a human body are converted into a form that is easily absorbed by a human body without irritating the skin, to provide high antioxidant, skin-lightening or wrinkle-reducing effects. Accordingly, a composition comprising the apricot extract according to the present invention may be beneficially used as a cosmetic composition that requires antioxidant, skin-lightening or wrinkle-reducing effects.
