The present invention relates to a method for optimized data transmission between an unmanned aerial vehicle and a telecommunications network, wherein command and control data and/or payload communication data are transmitted - in uplink direction from the unmanned aerial vehicle to the telecommunications network, and/or - in downlink direction from the telecommunications network to the unmanned aerial vehicle, wherein the unmanned aerial vehicle comprises communication means to transmit the command and control data and/or the payload communication data in uplink direction to the telecommunications network and/or to receive the command and control data and/or the payload communication data in downlink direction from the telecommunications network, wherein the communication means comprise a first air interface towards an optimized cellular narrowband mobile network and a second air interface towards a cellular broadband mobile network, wherein the method comprises at least the step of the unmanned aerial vehicle transmitting command and control data in uplink direction to the telecommunications network, using the first air interface towards the optimized cellular narrowband mobile network.
