The present invention discloses utilization of the anthracene-9,10-dione dioxime compound: 2-((3R,5S)-3,5-dimethylpiperdin-1ylsulfonyl)-7-((3S,5R)-3,5-dim ethylpiperidin-1-ylsulfonyl)anthracene-9,10-dione dioxime for the treatment of cancer, including myeloproliferative neoplasia, chronic myeloid leukemia and acute myeloid leukemia. Such an anthracene- 9,10-dione dioxime compound interrupts the Wnt/beta-catenin pathway and inhibits the deregulated activity of this pathway for the treatment, diagnosis and prevention of beta-catenin pathway-related disorders, as well as disrupting transducin beta-like protein 1 (TBL1) interaction with the coactivator molecule beta-catenin.
