A system and method system and method for generating the shock/blast waves in a calibration rig in a controlled manner is disclosed. A Shock/Blast Wave Fracking Tool (SWFT) is designed based on shock/blast tubes including a high-speed plunger. The calibration rig includes an annular chamber that houses the SWFT. The shock/blast tube includes a driver section, a driven section, a pneumatic controller, and a high-speed plunger. The driver section receives a compressed (high-pressure) gas. The pneumatic controller controls the movement of the high-speed plunger within the shock/blast tube. The pneumatic controller varies pneumatic pressure within the shock tube and thus controls the movement of the high-speed plunger. The movement of the high-speed plunger builds up pressure within the driver section, thereby channels the high-pressure gas into the driven section. The high-pressure gaseous jet triggers the formation of shock waves.
