method for assessing a risk for a human patient to develop an adverse drug reaction in response to a drug. The present invention relates to a method for determining the presence of certain hla alleles, such as hla-b * 1502 or hla-b * 5801, and a kit for performing such a method. A method for assessing whether a patient is at risk for developing adverse drug reactions (eg, stevens-johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, or hypersensitivity syndrome) based on the presence or absence of a marker is also presented. genetic (e.g., hla-b * 1502, hla-b * 5801, or hla-b * 4601).
