"Acoustic telemetry device, method of telemetry, and acoustic telemetry system. Acoustic telemetry devices and methods that provide directional sensing.In one configuration, a device comprises at least two acoustic telemetry distributed acoustic sensors and an electronic module.A first of the acoustic sensors detects a communication signal that propagates along a column pipe in a first direction.A second acoustic sensors is configured to detect the communication signal before the first acoustic sensor.The electronic module combines the signals of detection from the acoustic sensors to obtain a combined signal which substantially excludes.Signals that propagate in a direction opposite to the communication signal.Such suppression of signal can enhance significantly the signal to noise ratio of the communication signal, increasing the capacity of the channel.The device may be configured to support acoustic telemetry to record drilling and / or fully duplex communication.
