PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high strength dual-phase stainless steel wire and wire rod exhibiting excellent strength and spring fatigue characteristic.SOLUTION: The high strength dual-phase stainless steel wire rod excellent in spring fatigue characteristic is provided which contains C:0.21% or less, Si:0.05 to 3.2%, Mn:over 1% to 15%, Ni:0.5% or more and less than 5%, Cr:10 to 25%, Mo:3.0% or less, Cu:3.0% or less, N:0.02 to 0.35% and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and in which an Md30 value in γ represented by an expression (a) is -15 to 40, α, γ grain diameter is 10 μm or less, and γ amount is 30 to 80 vol.%. The high strength dual-phase stainless steel wire (for precision spring) excellent in fatigue characteristic is also provided which has a tensile strength of 1600 to 2100 MPa, deformation-induced martensite amount of 1 to 40 vol.%, α amount of 20 to 70 vol.% and α, γ, α' grain diameter of 5 μm or less.
