PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hospital information system and an examination necessity determination assist program for providing a medical care staff with useful information when determining the necessity of examination for a patient.SOLUTION: According to an embodiment, the present invention comprises a calculation unit, a determination unit, a display and a processing circuit. The extraction unit extracts an examination item performed on a patient who is the object of examination in the past. When there exist a plurality of results of extracted inspection items, the calculation unit calculates a difference between these results as a variation, and calculates an interval between examination days in which the respective results of examination items were obtained and an interval between the current scheduled date of examination and the latest date of examination as examination periods. The determination unit determines the suitability of the current schedule of examination relating to an inspection item using the calculated variation and examination periods. The display reports the suitability of the current schedule of examination determined by the determination unit. The processing circuit controls the extraction unit, the calculation unit, the determination unit and the display.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
