FIELD: biotechnology.;SUBSTANCE: method involves cultivation of Tetrahymena pyriformis on LB broth with antibiotics in the amount required for the experiment. Burkholderia pseudomallei is cultivated on LB medium. Burkholderia pseudomallei is combined with Tetrahymena pyriformis at a ratio of 100:1 to obtain a co-culture and incubated at 28°C in the climatic chamber during the period under study, with the count of the number of trophozoites and cysts formed in the Goryaev's chamber after preliminary disinfection with 10% formalin. Differences in the dynamics of Tetrahymena pyriformis cytogenesis in a co-culture with Burkholderia pseudomallei are revealed in comparison with the control. The cytotoxicity of the strains studied is determined by the quantitative index, which is calculated as the ratio of the number of cysts formed to the total number of tetrachimene cells per each time interval studied. In this case, strains with high cytotoxicity cause cysts formation and destruction at an earlier time compared to the strains with reduced virulence.;EFFECT: invention allows to increase the method sensitivity.;3 dwg, 2 tbl, 2 ex
