The present invention discloses a method for determining active tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis by detecting the concentration of VEGF-A in serum by supplementing an interferon gamma release assay such as IGRA, and a composition used in the method. The composition or method of the present invention can be distinguished between latent tuberculosis and active tuberculosis with high sensitivity and specificity, either alone or in conjunction with conventional culture or QFT-IT tests.
