The present invention relates to an apparatus for oxygen removal and gas mixing/distribution in order to produce an obligate anaerobic medium for unculturable obligate anaerobic archaebacteria inhabiting in extreme environment such as methanobrevibacter, particularly in order to culture obligate anaerobic hyperthermophiles or archaebacteria belonging to the genus Methanobrevibacter which is methanobrevibacter sensitive to oxygen and requiring at least two atmospheres of hydrogen pressure. According to the present invention, the use of the apparatus for oxygen removal and gas mixing/distribution in order to produce the anaerobic culture medium can prevent blockage in oxygen removal columns in exiting anaerobic culture medium production apparatuses, maintains stable gas pressure, can detect reactivation of columns with ease with changes in colors of bare copper. In addition, by connecting an anaerobic chamber and the oxygen removal column together and supplying high purity gas to the anaerobic chamber after converting low cost and low purity gas into high purity gas from which oxygen is completely removed, it is possible to produce culture obligate anaerobic microorganism in a solid medium and also to produce knock-out mutants.
