The present invention relates to an improved method of producing a zeolite-metal chloride hybrid water adsorbent which can be applied to dehumidifiers and water adsorption refrigerators, and more specifically, to an improved method of producing a zeolite-metal chloride hybrid water adsorbent comprising the steps of: dissolving a metal chloride in water to produce a first solution; mixing porous zeolite including ferroaluminophosphate-based zeolite in the first solution to produce a second solution; spraying the second solution to form liquid droplets having an average diameter; and drying the liquid droplets to produce a water adsorbent. Also, the present invention provides a method of producing a water adsorbent composition for surface coating, comprising the steps of: dispersing a water adsorbent in a dispersing agent to produce a dispersion; adding an epoxy-based binder resin to the dispersion; and adding a curing agent thereto. Water adsorbent materials produced in the above manner are characterized by having a maximum water adsorption amount of 0.2 to 0.9, calculated by g-water (water)/g-sorbent (adsorbent) within a working pressure range of an adsorption refrigerator P/P_0, of 0.1 to 0.3.
