The invention relates to a control device provided on a vehicle including a system for monitoring a path, suitable for correcting path deviations in order to position the vehicle correctly on a traffic lane, on the basis of images that are representative of a portion of the latter located in front of said vehicle. Said control device includes analysis means arranged such as to analyse data representing the eye movements of the driver in order to detect when the driver looks toward at least one rear-view mirror, and control means arranged, when there is no activation of the means for indicating a change of direction at the start of a path deviation correction, to trigger a temporary deactivation of the monitoring performed by the system in the event of detecting that the driver looks toward at least one rear-view mirror, in order to enable a possible overtaking manoeuvre to be performed.
