The invention describes an ultrasound - probe (1), in particular for applications in the region of the medical diagnosis by means of ultra sound ono chromatography, with a probe - housing (10), in which a transmitter (11), a receiver (12) and an ultrasound - transducer (14) with a number of channels, are arranged. The ultrasound - transducer (14) is, for generating an ultrasound - transmission signal in response to an electrical excitation by the transmitter (11), and for receiving a reflected reception signal to an observation medium formed. Furthermore, the ultrasound - probe (1) an operation control means (15), which is designed to the transmitter (11) in dependence on a in the operation of the ultrasound - probe (1) ascertained temperature of the ultrasound - probe (1) between a first operating mode (bm1) and at least a second operating mode (bm2) to switch over to. The first and the second operating mode (bm1, bm2) represent in each case a measuring methods with respective operating parameters.
