FIELD: astronautics.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to space engineering and can be used in designing spacecraft and space surveillance systems for detecting asteroids and comets, dangerous for the Earth. Invention includes a method of scanning space between the Sun and the Earth, due to illumination of the Sun not available for observation from the Earth or Earth orbits. This part of space surveillance is carried out with one or two spacecrafts located on the orbit of the Earth at a constant distance from it. Outer space survey is performed within the observed from a spacecraft cone contour with the vertex at the center of the Earth and the axis directed towards the Sun, limited on the Sun side by the Sun angle of exposure of the spacecraft observation equipment. Complete or partial survey of the given area of space environment may be carried out in either in-frame mode with a specified exposure, or in scanning mode by bands with the specified angular speed using matrix photodetectors with charge coupling while reading signals in the mode with a time delay and accumulation.
