The present invention relates to an optical system which detects a biological tissue using polarization characteristics. The optical system comprises: a light source unit emitting light; an optical guide unit for the light source made of a flexible material, has a side receiving light emitted from the light source unit, and allows the light to be emitted to the other side; a recording unit which records the light reflected from a measuring target after being emitted from the outside of the optical guide unit of the light source; a first polarization plate installed to rotate while using an optical path of the light emitted towards the measuring target from the light source unit, polarizing the light emitted towards the measuring target in a first polarization direction; a second polarization plate arranged on the optical path of the light emitted toward a recording unit after being reflected by the measuring target, blocking the light polarized in the first polarization direction included in the light emitted towards the recording unit after being polarized in a second polarization direction vertical to the first polarization direction from passing through; and a control unit which rotates the first polarization direction, controls the recording unit to record two or more images, and detects a biological tissue based on a change in brightness of the pixels in the images. Accordingly, the optical system is able to detect the biological tissue using the polarization characteristics enabling detection of the biological tissue with an outer membrane having the polarization characteristics such as a nerve or a ligament.
