The present invention relates to a thermal desorption system for contaminated soil and gravel using an indirect microwave radiation method, and a thermal desorption method for contaminated soil and gravel using the thermal desorption system, and more particularly to an apparatus and method for economic remediation of soil and gravel contaminated with various types of contamination sources, such as oil or organic waste, using an indirect microwave radiation method. In the thermal desorption system for contaminated soil and gravel using an indirect microwave radiation method according to the present invention, a structure of a contamination desorption unit adapted to thermally desorb contaminated materials is improved. The improved contamination desorption unit is configured to include an inner container and an outer container, to pass contaminated soil and gravel through the inside of the inner container, to have a microwave absorption heating element on a circumferential surface of the inner container, and to radiate microwaves onto the microwave absorption heating element, and thus contaminated materials of the contaminated soil and gravel inside the inner container can be thermally desorbed. Furthermore, materials having relatively low production costs and excellent heat generation efficiency are employed as the microwave absorption heating element, thereby ensuring economical feasibility. Furthermore, heat at low and high temperature can be generated, and thus significant thermal desorption can be performed regardless of the types of oil, thereby improving applicability to actual sites.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
