PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for accurately and inexpensively detecting moisture content and electrical conductivity of soil.;SOLUTION: A sensor 6 includes; a pair of electrodes 68, 69 to be put into contact with culture soil 8; a signal generator unit 70 which feeds a first AC input electrical signal and a second AC input electrical signal to the electrode 69; a second resistor 72 located between the electrode 69 and the signal generator unit 70; an absolute value detection circuit 73 which measures an absolute value |Z| of impedance based on the first input electrical signal and an output electrical signal; a phase detection circuit 74 which measures impedance phase difference φ by means of resistive voltage division based on the second input electrical signal and the output electrical signal; and a CPU 60 which determines resistance R between the pair of electrodes 68, 69 based on the absolute value |Z| of impedance, and determines moisture content θ by solving an equation that is approximated to correlate only with the moisture content θ on the basis of the impedance phase difference φ measured by the phase detection circuit 74 and the resistance R.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
