PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mainly provide a method for vacuum-coating the surface of a small sized neodymium iron boron based magnet, and an apparatus for achieving the method.SOLUTION: The method for vacuum-coating the surface of a neodymium iron boron based magnet comprises: throwing neodymium iron boron based magnets and metal balls or nonmetal balls into a barrel after defatting and acid cleaning; shutting a furnace door to evacuate the inside of the barrel to 6-9×10-3pa; rotating the barrel at a rate of 5-20 revolution/min to uniformly mix the neodymium iron boron based magnets and metall balls or nonmetallic balls; evacuating the inside of the barrel to 3-6×10-3pa; injecting argon gas into the barrel to set a degree of vacuum to 3-6×10-1pa; and opening a target to start coating.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
