This system pertains to a surgical assistance system that assists in determining an appropriate disposition for a bone in a living body during surgery. The surgical assistance system is provided with: a storage unit that associates and stores the position data of a first marker affixed to a first subject bone to 3D data of the first subject bone, which is one of a surgery subject bone that has been split in two, and 3D data of a reference bone of which a portion overlaps the first subject bone, and associates and stores the position data of a second marker affixed to a second subject bone to 3D data of the second subject bone, which is the other of the surgery subject bone that has been split in two; an imaging unit that images the first marker affixed to the first subject bone and the second marker affixed to the second subject bone; and a display unit that, using data stored at the storage unit, alters a display in accordance with changes in the positional relationship between the first marker and the second marker in a manner so that it is possible to apprehend the target position of the second marker in relation to the first marker when causing the second subject bone to overlap the reference bone.
