PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide short carbon fiber which exhibits excellent affinity to a matrix component when used as a material of a composite material.;SOLUTION: A carbon fiber-reinforced resin composite material is brought into contact with normal pressure superheated steam, and in an atmosphere filled with decomposition gas, a matrix resin in the composite material is heated and decomposed at 300-600°C, thereby providing short carbon fiber whose surface is chemically modified with at least one atom selected from hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen atoms.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
