PURPOSE: To obtain the subject fiber for resin reinforcement, improved in workability in a disperse process and handling property in high-temperature operation and simultaneously satisfying mechanical characteristics and electrically conductive property by sizing a carbon fiber with a polyurethane resin crosslinked with a blocked isocyanate. ;CONSTITUTION: The objective fiber having 0.3-12mm fiber length and using 0.2-10wt.%, preferably 0.3-8wt.% polyurethane resin crosslinked with a blocked isocyanate as a sizing agent. The fiber is preferably obtained by bringing the roving of a carbon fiber into contact with a solution obtained by mixing a polyurethane based aqueous emulsion with an aqueous emulsion of blocked isocyanate or dipping the roving in the modified solution and then heating the treated roving to crosslink the polyurethane applied to the surface of the carbon fiber with the blocked isocyanate.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
