The shifting device has a hollow-cylinder-shaped pistons (20,22) which are independently arranged in a housing (12) with a piston guide, Hall sensor (24,28) and permanent magnet (32,34). The permanent magnet is arranged in wall of each piston for regulating the axial length of piston. Hall sensor is arranged axially and is tangentially oriented in the non-magnetic form wall (14,16) of piston guide for each piston, so that Hall sensor and permanent magnet are overlapped with each other in different regions of the associated piston at different angles. An independent claim is included for method for controlling dual clutch arrangement.
