Method for carrying out white balance of image of surrounding area of passenger car, involves detecting current operating mode of light source such that white balance of image is performed based on detected operating mode
The method involves detecting a current operating mode of a light source by an electronic image processing apparatus of a motor car (1) such that a white balance of an image that is captured by a camera (3) of the motor car, is performed based on the detected operating mode. A parameter of the white balance is adjusted based on the detected operating mode of the light source, where the parameter represents colorant values of color channels of the image in a predetermined color space. A degree of brightness is determined based on amplification factors of an image sensor of the camera. The light source is selected from a brake light (6) and indicator lights (8, 9). An independent claim is also included for a camera system for a motor car.
