Disclosed are a meaning unit based word and idiom education system and a method thereof. The word and idiom education system according to an embodiment of the present invention may include: a database for storing learning materials which classify structures of a plurality of foreign language words or a plurality of foreign language idioms according to a meaning unit and a function unit and including multiple component data of a text type classified by each meaning unit and function unit; and a word and idiom education server which extracts the multiple component data by the meaning unit and the function unit according to the structure of a word or an idiom to be learned and then provides the extracted the component data for a learner terminal when the learner terminal is connected.
