Oligomeric compounds (I), (II) and (III) are new. Oligomeric compounds of formula (T 2-(Z) n-T 1) (I), (T 2-(aryl)-(Hetaryl)-(aryl) q-(heraryl) r-(aryl)-T 1) (II) and (T 2-(C 6F 4)-(Hetaryl)-(C 6F 4) q-(heraryl) r-(C 6F 4)-T 1) (III) are new. Double dotted line : single or double bond, where the single bonds are not H at the bonding atoms of end groups of T1 and T2; Z : aryl or hetaryl, where the aryl comprises phenyls, naphthalenes, phenanthrenes, indacenes, anthracenes or cyclopentadienes that are aromatic, or quinoid or partially saturated or unsubstituted, or carrying at least one substituent, and the hetaryl comprises unsubstituted or at least one substituted heteroaryl consisting of 1,3-oxazoles, 1,3,4-oxadiazoles, 1,3-thiazole, 1,3,4-thiadiazoles, furans and thiophenes that are aromatic, or quinoid or partially saturated; n : 2-12, where the bond(s) between the Z-radicals are either single or double bonds, and the aryl or heteroaryl groups in the oligomer are same or different and is independent of one another, where the substituent of the aryl and/or hetaryl consists of halo, CN, C(=O)-1-20C alkyl, partially or completely fluorinated linear, branched or cyclic 1-20C alkyl, linear, branched or cyclic 1-20C alkyl, linear, branched or cyclic 1-20C alkoxy- and thioalkoxy, dialkyl amines with 1-20C alkyl, partially or completely fluorinated phenylene, pyridylene or tolylene, or phenylene, pyridylene and tolylene each having at least one CN group and unsubstituted or partially or completely fluorinated, and end groups of T1 and T2 consists of -N-CN-, -NC-CH(R1), R2C(=O)-CH(CN), (aryl1)CH(aryl2), (hetaryl1)CH(aryl1), (hetaryl1)CH(hetaryl2), -(CH-(C(=O)-R22)-(C(=O)-R22)), substituted cyclopenta-1, 3-diene compound of formula (a), substituted 2H-indene compound of formula (b), substituted cyclopent-4-ene-1,3-dione compound of formula (c), substituted 3a,7a-dihydro-indene-1,3-dione compound of formula (d), substituted cyclohexane-1,3-dione compound of formula (e), substituted 1,3-dimethylene-2,3,3a,7a-tetrahydro-1H-indene compound of formula (f), substituted 9,10-Dihydro-anthracene compound of formula (g), substituted 2H-imidazole compound of formula (h), substituted 3,5-dimethylene-cyclopentene compound of formula (i), and substituted 1,3-dimethylene-cyclohexane compound of formula (j); R12 : 1,2-aryl, 1,2-hetaryl, SO 2R 2 5, CN and partially or completely fluorinated 1-10C alkylene, where the 1,2-aryl consists of unsubstituted or partially or completely fluorinated, chlorinated, cyanated or CF3-substituted phenylene, biphenylene and naphthylene, and the 1,2-hetaryl consists of triazines, pyridines, pyrimidines and oxadiazoles that are completely or partially fluorinated, chlorinated or cyanated or CF 3-substituted; R3-R29 : H, halo, 1-10C alkyl, 1-10C alkoxy, thioalkoxy, perfluoro-1-10C alkyl or CN; q : 0-1; and r : 1-5.
