The method involves applying the test specimen (12) which acts in direction of force and is deformed along the direction. The stress-strain relationship is detected, and the power characterizing value is determined. The closed hollow cross section (20) of the specimen is pressurized with an incompressible fluid, in circumferential direction of the test specimen. The stress-strain relationship is determined in dependence on the fluid on the test specimen and the detected pressure acting characterizing value.
