The system (10) has transducer array (18) that is provided with inductors and beamformer which is connected with transducer array. A communication interface is connected with beamformer, and the housing is provided to electromagnetically shield and surround transducer array and communication interface. The transducer array is arranged in the investigation aperture of MRI system (14) through the communication interface. An independent claim is included for method for operating therapeutic ultrasound system.
