PURPOSE: A method for predicting steel quality in a continuous casting process is provided to produce high quality of superlow carbon steel by facilitating quality prediction.;CONSTITUTION: A method for predicting steel quality is as follows: a step of measuring a casting width, an amount of molten steel discharged from a dipping nozzle, a casting speed, and a superheat degree of the molten steel (S10); a step of calculating a hook index (X) using the casting width, the amount of the discharged molten steel, the casting speed, and the superheat degree of the molten steel (S20); a step of calculating a length and an inclination of a hook using the calculated hook index (S30); and a step of predicting the defect degree of the steel by checking the length and the inclination of the hook (S40).;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013;[Reference numerals] (AA) Start; (BB) Finish; (S10) Measure a casting width, an amount of molten steel discharged from a dipping nozzle, a casting speed, and a superheat degree; (S20) Calculate a hook index (X) using the obtained measurement values; (S30) Calculate a length and an inclination of a hook using the calculated hook index; (S40) Predict the defects by checking the length and the inclination of the hook
