The method involves determining whether a third vehicle moves on a lane in a driving direction of a vehicle between a vehicle and another vehicle. A lane is arranged adjacent to another lane. The target value of a sequence distance is set. The sequence distance is a temporal sequence distance. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a distance control system for a vehicle; and (2) a computer program product for computer readable medium.
