The device has a circuit carrier (1) and a light conductor (2) resting against the circuit carrier. A light source (3) i.e. LED, couples light (4a) in a side surface (10) of the conductor. The conductor includes scattering centers (5) in which the light is scattered transverse to a radiation direction. A surface of the carrier exhibits locally varying reflection characteristics and brightness below the conductor. The carrier forms a high-gloss or reflecting surface below the conductor in sections. The reflection characteristics are produced by a coating, a foil or a lacquer i.e. solder mask.
